One More Project

After I blogged about all of the projects I want to get done this summer, I realized that I left one off of the list: painting this old trunk.  I bought back in October and hate that I haven't painted it yet, I never wanted a Christmas trunk in the middle of the summer!  The problem is, I have no idea how I want to paint it.  Here are my four options: Paint it all one color, paint it two new colors, leave the green and paint over the red, leave the red and paint over the green.  The only thing that those four options have in common is that I still don't know what colors to use!  Any suggestions?

The Perfect Find

Don't you just love it when you go shopping and find something you love, and then find out it's on sale too?  That happened to me yesterday!  I went to the fabric store after work to look for some fabric to cover my director's chair with.  I saw something right away that I liked, but it wasn't perfect, so I kept looking.  Then I saw it.  The perfect fabric for the chair.  And then I saw the price - $29.99 a yard.  Ouch!  I stood there for a bit.  I wanted that fabric!  But $30 bucks a yard?  The roll of fabric was mixed in with a bunch of others that had sale tickets on them, so I checked, and it was actually on sale too!  It was still $17.99 a yard, but it's fabric upholstery, and I knew I wouldn't need that much.  Turns out I only needed half a yard, so it only ended up costing $9.86!  Here's a peek at the fabric; I can't wait til it's all done!

Butter-Roasted Carrots

I made these carrots the same night I made this chicken.  I forgot to take pictures before we started eating, and then we ate them all up!  I hated to blog about it without a picture, so I had to wait until I made them again this past weekend.  This is a great dish for two, actually three, reasons: 1) It's super easy,  2) You probably already have all of the ingredients, with the exception of maybe the carrots, unless you have a garden, and 3) It taste good!

Butter-Roasted Carrots

Ingredients
2 c.  2" diagonally cut carrots
1 tbs. butter, melted
1 tsp. olive oil
1/4 tsp. kosher salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
cooking spray

Directions
Preheat oven to 425*
Combine first five ingredients.
Bake for 15 minutes on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray.

Working Through the Weekend

Isn't it such a bummer when you have to bring work home with you and work over the weekend?  That's what I'm having to do right now...gosh watching movies over the weekend is just rough!  Why am I watching movies for work?  At the start of each year we have a retreat for our ministry team students.  The teaching sessions and a project that the students work on over the course of the weekend are all based on a theme, and that theme comes from a movie we watch together the first night.  You can read about last year's retreat, themed Remade, here.  And tonight I'm watching one of the movies we're considering for this year.  I can't share what it is, because some of the students follow the blog.  But whatever we end up doing, I blog about it in September I'm sure.  Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got popcorn to eat, a soda to sip, and a movie to watch!
